Q: Are these soft and rubbery with some give. I hate the stiff hard plastic ones?

Hello, as I said in my review these backers are very small. I don't find them hard but you may have trouble getting them on a post. I wear either posts or fish hook wire type and they will go on the fish hook easier than on the studs. They do have small holes. I've not had one fall off. I cannot describe then as rubbery but they can be indented by your finger nail. Hope this is helpful.

Q: Can these be used to hold a nose stud in? I have a new nose piercing and the stud falls out all the time

Yes, but I think it would be uncomfortable, definitely not small enough to be concealed.
