It works for me
I'm glad I found this. It darkened my natural hair, just like I was looking for. I stopped dyeing my hair and let the grey hair show for over a year at least. This helps my hair look darker without having the color my hair. It does somewhat dry out my hair but I just do a deep condition once a week and it works for me. It's staying in my hair routine.

Awesome product!
Although this is mainly advertised as shampoo, it’s actually a great product to tone down any brassiness in your brown hair. It cleans lightly while strengthening brown tones, does not pick up blonde/brassy looking highlights. I use it for two weeks every time I get my hair colored and it makes the color even more beautiful. Also does not fade as quickly.

Goodish...
I used to love Brilliant Brunette before I switch to natural shampoo. My hair was a little sun washed and I was looking for a darker tone without having to dye my hair so I thought I'd give this a try since I used to ne such a big fan. I have to say the smell is very pleasant, and I am very sensitive to scents. My hair was very soft and shiny while using, but it did cause some scalp irritation. Lastly, it did not darken my hair.

💜💜 this shampoo!! 👍🏼
I've been using John Frieda frizz products for years.. I found this product and love it too!! 💜 It's a great product vs biolag at more than double the cost. It does more for ur hair. Great for smoothing but also truly adds a dark brunette color without any residue or stain ur towels. Last month I dyed my hair dark caviar (dark purple) but was fading a lot. I had some purple on my towel. Not anymore using this product. It does really protect ur hair. I've been using the John Frieda midnight brunette shampoo & conditioner & my hair looks fantastic!! Along with Secret Weapon & 3 Day Straight products. I'm very very impressed 😁😆 highly recommend this product! I'll definitely purchase this again! 💯

Nice but doesn't impart color!
This is a nice shampoo, but my grays are just as white as before I used this shampoo. So, good shampoo but doesn't color the hair. Perhaps it works if your hair is already colored and it deepens the color you have, but it doesn't work to darken grays.

Tones down my grays
I have fine, wavy hair that has started to gray. I have to be careful what shampoos and conditioners I use because they can flatten my hair. I have been dying it since I was in my 40’s, and now, at age 60, I have seemed to develop an allergy to an ingredient in brown hair dyes (likely paraphenylenediamine (PPD), but not tested). I tried the all gray look during the pandemic, but it just made me look old and I don’t have that pretty gray hair color. This shampoo tones down my gray, while leaving my hair with its natural wave. Speaking of natural, it does not look dyed, and somehow, creates a tone of gray that is prettier than my own, but less of it. I would say it takes me back to the amount of gray I had 10 years ago, only better. Also, it does not flatten my hair and I can leave it dry naturally with the waves intact. Smell is fine. Not my favorite, but not obnoxious. Bonus: no itchy scalp from an allergen.

The scent prevents me from wanting to use this product.
I purchased this in an attempt to cover some gray hairs and figure out what to do with my light brown/dark blonde hair as it ages. I shampooed once and left it in for 5 minutes, saw no difference. If it wasn’t for the scent I’d have shampooed again. I’m sensitive so someone else may not find it so offensive. I find the Blue Crush shampoo tones my hair darker than this did. So I’m going to experiment and try this shampoo on my part for 10 minutes, then use Blue Crush on the rest of my hair. Maybe the scent won’t stand out so much. If it was more expensive, I’d send it back.
