For 20 bucks this one is definitely worth it. I've been holding off for a couple weeks waiting for this to come in so I can get to the leather projects I have working, and soon to have. Easy to use, just need a clamp to hold it down tight - or screw down, depending on where/how it's getting put to use.Sewing on soles for moccasins, knife sheaths, bags, the list of uses for a stitching pony are pretty much endless. When one isn't troubled with holding the work secure and in workable positions - flip-flopping it around twixt the knees or however else, are all great ways to keep stabbing the fingers - and whatever else. It's not just much-less painful, but it's also faster to get through the work.

Good considering the price but you get what you pay for.
Good value considering the low price. Much better than trying to hand stitch without one. But the base does not fasten firmly to the jaws, and the jaws fit the project very loosely. I often have to shim the project with additional pieces of leather, even after gluing a piece of veg tan to the inside of each jaw. Having the base on one side only takes getting used to but you adjust to it pretty quickly.

Looks like it will work fine
I examined it carefully, could find no defects. I believe the gap on the one lower joint is to allow the arms to spread. A coat or two of Minwax oak satin, glued leather to upper arms. Good quality, low price: value. Very satisfied.

So easy to put together a caveman could do it.
This is a compact, yet fully functional and sturdy gripper for holding leather while sewing. It is best used clamped to a table but can be used just as well by sitting on the extended board. I recommend covering the jaws with leather to protect the project, just as you would with any other version of this clamp. It arrived ready to use and has been put to immediate use with excellent results.
