This is not what I expected — deceptive listing
I’ve been using Eco Style Gel for years and thought I knew exactly what I was getting. The listing photo shows what appears to be the standard 16 oz jar that I’ve purchased countless times at beauty supply stores, Target, CVS, and Walmart. Even the “8 oz” version I’ve occasionally purchased in stores is larger than what was sent to me.When I received this jar, I knew something was off just by the way it looked in my hand — much smaller, squatty, with a cropped label that screams sample or travel size. That’s when I decided to go back to the listing and dig into the specs, and that’s when the deception became clear: • The jar height is listed as 2 inches, which aligns with travel-size or sample containers, not a standard-use styling gel jar. There is no in-store 8 oz jar of Eco gel that’s this small in both height and volume. • The label on my actual jar says 8 oz / 236 mL, which is correct; only if the label had been placed on a true 8oz container but the listing says 240 mL, which is more than 8 oz. That’s not just rounding up, that’s misleading customers by inflating volume. • The product I received has a “New Look” printed on the label, but nowhere in the listing or the product image does it say anything about a packaging change, redesign, or new label. That’s a big deal, because returning customers rely on product consistency when shopping online. This feels like a bait-and-switch. Between the misleading product photo, the inflated volume specs, the undisclosed label change, and the trial-size proportions, this isn’t what I paid for or what I expected. And to charge $5.59 for a mini when the 16 oz sells for a dollar more in-store? That’s price gouging on top of the deception. The gel itself is fine, I’ve always liked Eco but this listing is shady.Be warned: this is not a full-size product, and you won’t realize it until it’s in your hand and too late.Do yourself a favor and just buy it in person.. this listing cannot be trusted.
