Liquitex Acrylic Professional Pouring Effects Medium for Acrylic Paint, Gloss, 946 ml

Great pouring medium. I tried it for the first time and was so impressed with the outcome. It's creamy and mixes easily with paint. There is no unpleasant smell. It dried bright and smooth.It doesn't produce any cells though, so you may have to use some additives to get cells if you want them.It's a perfect pouring medium but it's bloody expensive. On the bottle it says to use 5% paint to 95% medium. So you need A LOT. A couple of medium-sized paintings and a 1litre bottle is gone. I still buy it when on offer but have to look for cheaper alternatives.

As a painter, I use this a LOT on large scale canvases. I’ve experimented with various mediums and approaches to emulate oil painting while using acrylics. This pouring medium makes the paint really runny but somehow keeps the same opacity. I don’t know how it is possible because I’m usually frustrated by the lack of pigment in the paints that I can afford in the large quantities that I use. It gives a hard very smooth opaque finish when I mix it with “Heavy Body” acrylic. It also dries and a rate very similar to normal acrylic paint and easily mixes evenly. To me it seems to spread a fairly long way or can make quite a nice thick puddle kind of effect that can preserve the shape it was poured into when it dries. It’s gives a harder finish than a glazing medium or pure acrylic paint. I also like the way it can like the effect of mixing it with glazing medium to make different levels of translucency.It doesn’t really smell unless you really stick your nose into the bottle (which is nice ;))

I used this to do paint pouring over rocks for the first time (have never done any sort of pouring before) and found it easy to mix and it gave a lovely consistency for the colours to slowly intermingle on the rock (the rocks had been given a coat of paint before I did the pouring to help it adhere). I poured the paint that was leftover onto a large shiny plastic container lid and when dry it peeled off and could possibly be used to make jewellery? Very pleased with this product and will enjoy experimenting with paint pouring over canvases and other items in the future. Would recommend.

Works well

I use this for art pouring and love the consistency and the cells it creates in the paint. Good quality artist grade. Its not cheap and you can mix your own but this is just the right mix for me. I don't want to faff about with glue and water.
