KENWOOD CHEF A901E / A901D REPAIR KIT - ONE SPEED / BURNING - FULL INSTRUCTIONS

Brill bit of kit in that easy to follow instructions with some photos to assist. You do need to have a basic understanding of soldering and desoldering but nothing too complicated for anyone used to basic electronic repairs.I initially bought because my mother's 1984 a901e kenwood would not even start (never mind smell of burning etc). Bearing in mind she hadn’t even taking it out of the box for around 20 years and given that I didn’t have a meter to hand I decided to take a punt on this kit even though my situation did not match the reasons to buy the repair kit (as per their instructions - if you know what I mean).......anyway, long story short, it subsequently appeared that the on/off switch (operated by the dial) had failed (found out by accident afterwards) but started working again after continually switching on/off (I think grease inside the switch had been the problem). Having got the switch working (checked with my meter) I plugged back in and it kicked into action BUT only then did I realise that it was operating at one, single, speed.Fortunately I had a kit! Opened it, followed the instructions and, lo and behold, all now working perfectly.
