I prefer ceramic to plastic or metal
I love these! I have a couple for daily use which I wash everyday, so I don’t use the other many mugs I have. It’s my favorite coffee mug. It holds about 16 oz. It’s well insulated. It’s pretty thick. The handle is comfortable, and the silicone grip at the bottom, protects it from sliding or rocking, and spilling. The lid doesn’t seal tightly though, if that’s important. But the overriding factor for me is that it’s ceramic and large.

As advertised
Cute. Sturdy. Finally a traveling coffee mug that doesn't burn my both from HOT METAL! This is a common sense product.

I love the design of this mug!
As a lover of coffe, tea, and everything warm and cozy, I have to give kudos to the design of this mug. Here's what's different: 1. Silicon base for the win! This not only protects my antique furniture, but also makes the mug feel much more sturdy/stable. 2. Recessed lid. When you take a drink, your lips only touch the ceramic of the mug and not the plastic of the lid. This is a key difference between this mug and similar mugs and it makes a big impact. 3. Handle shape - streamlined and fits my smaller hand so that it feels like I have more control over the mug. 4. Large capacity. My only complaint, if I had one, is that it comes only in 3 colors not offering much style and personalization. I would love to see are large selection of mug colors and various colors of silocon as well for a more modern look.

Overall happy with my purchase
With all the hype around microplastics I decided to shelve my favorite plastic 20 oz insulated Thermos mug and find a plastic free alternative for my morning coffee.I had a list of requirements for my new mug. No plastic or metal (I love my Yeti for cold drinks but hate the metallic taste it gives hot beverages), at least 16 oz capacity, microwavable, and it must come with a lid (not only to avoid spillage, but to help keep my beverage hot). This morning was my first experience with the Ello Jane mug. Overall, I am pleased with the product. It is very well made and much heavier than I expected it to be. It is also very attractive, which is a bonus since I tend to leave sitting out all day. While the product description states it is 18 oz, I found it easily held a full 20 oz, I just took a couple sips before putting on the lid.The rubber bottom is nice, I just wish they also had thought to put a rubber ring about halfway up the mug (why 4 stars instead of 5). Even though the handle is large, I found myself wanting to hold on to the cup when drinking and the ceramic is hot! The addition of a rubber ring would let me hold onto the cup without burning my fingers.I like my coffee hot, so I preheated the mug with hot water while the coffee was brewing. I don’t know if the mug kept the coffee as warm as the Thermos mug did, and the last few sips were a bit tricky to drink because of the way the lid sits but given that I can enjoy my morning java without fear of ingesting microplastics, I found it a fair tradeoff. All this to say, if you are looking to upgrade from plastic to a well-made ceramic cup/mug you should give the Ello Jane ceramic mug a try.

TOOO DANG HEAVY!!!!!!!
I do NOT know how so many people are loving this mug and gushing about it!I onjbought this dang brick of a mug solely on the reviews and I will NEVER do that again, Cuz this mug was CRAZY EXPENSIVE AND IT IS SUPER DANG TOTALLY UNREAL HEAVY!!!It IS LITERALLY THE HEAVIEST MUG I HAVE EVER OWNED!!!! I am a 43 yr young ;) ahemmm, lol—I am a Very avid coffee drinker & tea drinker, so this is a huge statement from me when I say it’s THEEE HEAVIEST MUG IVE EVER OWNED! Cuz it truly is!Plus, I collect cool coffee mugs so when I say it’s the heaviest EVAAAA, it’s really DANG HEAVY!!!What is Unbelievably worse than THATTT,Is that it also just DOES NOTTTTTT keep your coffee HOT AT ALLLL for long AT ALLLL!!!!I have wayyyy cheaper little mugs (& w/o tops!), that truly do a SIGNIFICANTLY MUCH BETTER job of keeping it hot A LOT LONGER! Anddd most of those mugs were about $3.50 -$5 bucks each. This one was $20.00!! Plus!!Also, I have arthritis… and if you do too, then this mug is terrible for people w that. It’s just too darn heavy… plus who wants lukewarm coffee!?No kidding by the time you add a little bit of cream then sit down, it’s ALREADY barely lukewarm then! The only good things about this brick are that it has a nice wide mouth/body so you can clean inside it easily & that it has an awesome silicon built-in coaster. Those r the 2 major pluses to me… oh and it’s ribbed for her pleasure…Well, that’s it…Edit:This heavy mug I ended up using a bit more than I thought I would, since I could use it over a tealight trivet, but unfortunately last wk it broke already!!! (From falling in the sink from the counter when my elbow hit it in.)It broke down the middle and is unusable now. What a huge waste of money!P.S.- That thing on top of the cup is the new XOXO pour over coffee maker and it is the BOMB DIGGITY!!! 5 stars allll the way to the moon on that item!

Does not keep coffee hot...
I was so excited waiting to receive this mug and I am so disappointed. It does NOT keep your coffee hot. I made my coffee in the mug and before it was 15 mins in drinking it, my coffee was already cold. I couldn't believe it. I have another Ello mug that i travel to work with and it keeps it hot for hours. So I thought I would get one for in the house. I am going to return, because this new one doesn't work.

I love this mug
Bought my first maybe 5 years ago, finally broke it after daily use and abuse. It held up so well, and was absolutely perfect. I had to replace it. Love this mug!!!
