Dr Trouble Double Oak Smoked Chilli Sauce MILD 125 ml, Finest African Hot Sauce

I discovered this brand during lockdown and still use it regularly. I'm not a massive hot sauce expert, but I have tried a decent range (certainly most the big ones, plus a bunch of independent ones) and for me, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest.You get some hot sauces, that to my taste is just heat, you get some others that bring decent flavour too (either ones that bring proper chilli pepper taste, or those fruit based ones that bring out other flavours), but this flavour really is like nothing else I have tasted.Basically made with lemons, chillis and salt - you can pick all those aspects out, but its not like "oh this is lemon-y" or anything, you have to stop and think what you are tasting and the lemons bring a fresh, brightness with their acidity rather than overly citrus-y. A deep savoury salt flavour comes through, and the smoked chilli brings a warming smokey flavour.If you get the oak-smoked variety, its really not that hot at all and can be used liberally - but the other classic variety is also great (a bit hotter, and not the smoked flavour, obviously I suppose!)Works well anywhere you'd use hot-sauce - my go to use is:1) with eggs - fried eggs, poached eggs, cooked breakfast etc2) on mac and cheese, or any kind of creamy pasta thing, salmon etc3) avocado on toastGenuinely steps up your breakfast a lot!

This hot sauce is delicious, it has a medium level of heat, but the flavour is AMAZING. The heat pairs well with the lemon juice, and the chillies have a natural oak-smoked flavour. You can put this in soups, on pizza, use it as a dipping sauce for chips, in noodles, even on pork pies, basically anything you can think of; it has a wonderful flavour profile that I haven't found in any other hot sauce, and it's not overwhelming either. It's not vinegar based, so that probably helps. Try it! I guarantee fans of hot sauce will love this. This has gone straight to my all-time favourite hot sauce. It's so good. Highly highly recommended

I love hot sauce, I put it on basically everything. Having previously purchased the lemon chilli version I opted for the Double Oak Smoked version this time (mainly due to the lack of a 250ml bottle in the lemon chilli flavour). Both are lemon based anyway so they both taste great. The masala spices come through straight away and this is a "mild" sauce which is fine by me when the flavour is so great. It is easy my favourite flavoured hot sauce. I just wish they did a hotter version and more batches to bring the price down 🤣

Very unique flavour with smokiness and a boldness I can't quite describe. The lemon flavour is delicious, but a little too strong for me. Pairs very well with fish, but other than that I'm struggling a little bit to know what to have it with. In my opinion not good with eggs, potatoes, chicken and lacks the versatility of a more "normal" hot sauce

This is a great hot sauce it has bags of flavor and makes a great ingredient to add to a cooking sauce. It is not especially hot. It has a smokey lemon tang have used it in two dishes now and they taste amazing, just wish I had bought the larger bottle as I have pretty much finished the smaller.Don't write a lot of reviews on Amazon and tend to do either for products I think are exceptional or for poor products, this is definitely the former

The seller accidently sent me Hot Lemon rather than smokey, I contacted them on here and within about 5 minutes got a phone call telling me the smokey sauce was in the post! I mean wow, that is top top customer service right there.So I got round to trying the sauce too, it's great, full of flavour, nice heat. Its the kind of sauce I'd want to marinade BBQ meat or chicken wings in, awesome!

The best tasting sauce. I’ve tried a lot of different sauces and this is the nicest one I’ve come across. It has natural organic ingredients as well with no seed oils or other dodgy ingredients which is a big deal, so I don’t feel crap afterwards.Would definitely recommend giving it a go, it works with everything.

Quite a different sauce this. The initial hit reminds me of bitters used in cocktails. It's *very* lemony to the point that it almost overpowers the smoke and chilli. Interesting though and very more ish, I havent had one that mixes smoke and chilli in this way before - quite a thick sauce with very prevalent whole chilli seeds. Not a huge burn but enough to cut through the tartness and linger till the next mouthful. I'd say slightly hotter than Frank's or tabasco but far from a "hot" hot sauce. Would buy again when I'm in the mood for the bitter tang hit it provides.
