Everything I wanted it to be!

My rice/grain cooker priorities:1) Stainless steel for every interior surface, no chemical coating. (With a ring of food-grade silicon for the interior seal on the lid.)2) Ease of use: I need to be able to hit a couple of buttons, walk away, and know the device will take care of the rest.3) Easy cleanup. Bowl must be removable for cleaning. Bonus points for removable inner lid, also for cleaning. Strongly prefer no spitting of liquid/gunk out onto surrounding areas, as several types of cookers seem to do.4) My use is for oatmeal porridge. So I tried (successfully) to choose a cooker which would get the timing and texture right.I am loving this cooker -- every day I find myself grateful to have it. It totally frees my time up, both cooking and cleanup.Tips on cleanup: I find that if I let it sit on "warm" for just a short time, anything that was starting to stick to the bowl just unsticks itself. Cleanup has been a dream.I do lightly grease the bowl with butter. But I was doing that for stovetop oats already, and even with all the stirring and a fancy non-stick pot, stovetop cleanup was a whole lot more work. Cleaning the beautiful stainless steel bowl for this cooker, in contrast, has been super quick and easy. The inner lid also clicks out super easily, for cleaning/drying. Note that a bit of water can get underneath the silicon seal, so just be sure that's totally dry before closing it all up.I have one complaint, which is really about Amazon's changes in policy regarding questions, which ended up with me buying another of this cooker straight from the manufacturer and returning this one:I couldn't get an answer as to what the inner ring on the lid is made of, through Amazon. So I called the manufacturer, (Buffalo Cookware), got the answer immediately over the phone, and ended up getting an even better price through them.Amazon, note: If you continue to make it harder for customers to get answers to questions which matter to us, you drive us to get those answers elsewhere. That creates a sense of gratitude and loyalty to other vendors who *do* make it consistently easy to get our questions answered. Coupled with frustration toward Amazon, you're driving both short-term purchases and longer-term purchasing habits away from your site. This, in case it's not obvious, has to do with both your short-sighted decision to hide the Q&A's and have your truly sh***y, barely developed, essentially useless and customer time-wasting AI, idiotically try to filter what we get to see. Then, when I called your phone reps after getting through all the obstacles Amazon has added there, (you've made the process of getting a live person for anything not on your short preset menus akin to completing a cyber obstacle course), it was suggested to me, (by an otherwise very nice man), that I contact other sites to get the answers I need. Well, I did -- and the product was also much less expensive. So why should I stick with Amazon?Btw, the nice gentleman also seriously said that asking for ingredients on products offered on Amazon, (when not listed in the product description), was too unusual and too difficult a request to make of the AI system.Essentially, we're being denied access to useful information that Amazon has, (which was generated by us customers in the first place), but wants to control and filter for us. While at the same time we're being used to train a lousy AI system, with the end goal of taking more jobs away from more people who need jobs.I'm honestly starting to change my Amazon-centric purchasing habits developed over many years, as a result of this. But, the cooker is GREAT!! :)

Excellent rice cooker. Worth the price.

I got the 5 cup cooker. Nice modern look. Grains of rice are perfectly fluffy. My son said it tastes very close to grandma’s zojirushi rice cooker. I bought because of the stainless steel inner pot. Easy to clean. not sticky unless you let the cooked rice in “warm” mode for a long time. I usually open the lid 10 min after cooking is completed, and will not keep “warm” for more than 30 minutes. It stays warm for a long time without “warm” mode. It takes about 45min to cook 1-2 cups of white rice. I do add more water than suggested - use “grain” level of water for white rice.I also cooked lamb pilaf. It’s just perfect. Good for cooking oatmeal too using preset timer. There is water coming around the pot which is easy to clean, simply using a dry towel.

STAY AWAY---RICE NOT FLUFFY OR MOIST, RETURN POLICY A JOKE

Was anxiously awaiting our rice cooker. We were deeply disappointed after trying 3 different types of rice---white, brown, and jasmine. Then we went to return and saw they charge a 20% stocking fee and may not accept it if used, which we tried out OF COURSEDO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE WITH THIS

Reliable and beautiful

Beauty and reliability don't always come together but after owning this rice cooker for well over a year, I have to say it has performed admirably.

Controls suck, but nice stainless steel inner pot

My wife is Asian, so we've always had a rice cooker. The last one was a $100 Zojirushi from Costco with a non-stick inner pot. It was easy to use, but the inner pot began going bad, and we couldn't find a replacement for much less than the cost of the whole thing. Costco no longer sells it, but has a Tiger brand instead. Same sort of inner pot, and a lousy interface, so we returned it and got this one. We've known about this one for years, and a friend loves hers, so my wife wanted one even though it was a bit more expensive. The control panel on this sucks. It's not that easy to read, and the timer can only be set for even hours. When you first turn it on, it displays a random setting that needs to be cancelled by holding down the cancel button for a while. Also, the controls are pretty dim, and are directly on top, so if the cooker is too high on a shelf, like perhaps above shoulder height, it's hard to see. I made the mistake of trying to tilt it slightly once to see better, and the water spilled out around the seal, so the seal is not water tight as expected. But it does seem to cook fairly well, and the inner pot will last forever; hopefully, the control unit won't crap out early.Personally, I would rather have bought the Zojirushi and try to be more careful with the inner pot, but my wife wanted the stainless steel one.

less better experience compared to my first rice cooker

This is the 2nd same rice cooker i just brought since the first one broken after 14 years of use. I have noticed the 2nd one making some noice when cooking comparing to the first one. Now sure the noice is normal after 14 years. But I prefer not to have any noice.
