The 215846602 Refrigerator Defrost Timer are part of the defrost circuit in your refrigerator and freezer. This timer cycles the defrost heater on and off. For six eight hours, the appliance timer will cycle for 21 minutes. The defrost heater is what melts the frost buildup on the evaporator coils, and it can prevent your freezer from frosting up. If your timer fails, the heater will not get the energy it needs to run, and frost will continue to build up. Test the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater with a multi-meter. If they are in working order it is likely that the defrost timer is the faulty component of the circuit and needs to be replaced. This part 215846604 is a compatible replacement and a great alternative for part 241809402. For those trying to buy this part 241809402, you will find some parts available on the internet for a much higher price than if you would have bought the part 215846604. Also some online stores even advertised part 241809402 as NEW even though the part is actually USED. Buyers beware!Overall, part 215846604 works well and it fixed my refrigerator (not cold enough/too warm)/freezer (too cold and frosting/not defrosting) problem. Will certainly recommend this product if you have a Frigidaire/Electrolux refrigerator.
