This product functions fine so far. I've had it for a few months and used it several times. I measure a few spots on my body every couple weeks. It's easy and functional to use. The tape never gets caught in the mechanism. When I press the button to pull the tape back, it immediately pulls it back all the way. (My previous one over time loosened and so when I press the button, the measuring tape would come back in but leave a couple inches out. I haven't used this one enough to compare- I had the other one for years.)I would have given it five stars, but you have to be careful how you use it. Otherwise, the measurement can end up being tighter or looser, so your measurements aren't actually comparable from week to week. It doesn't automatically create the same tightness. It snaps into the nearest catch in the mechanism. I'll see if I can explain what I do. I pull the tape around and put the knob in the hole. Then, while pressing the button, I push the measurer against my skin. This is not accurate yet. Then I release the pressure against my body while still holding the button. I allow the measurer to bounce back to a looseish tightness and it doesn't click into place because I'm holding the button. Because I use this strategy for all of my measurements, hopefully it is measuring accurately with the same amount of tightness on each spot.Unfortunately, I did not look closely enough at the product. I thought that it would have inches and centimeters on it like my previous measurer did, but this one only has inches. I will have to buy a new measuring tape because I measure in centimeters to be more exact.It took a really long time to ship, so I have a couple months without any measurement data, but I knew that when I was buying it.

I love this little gadget, and I wish I'd had it when my kids were younger - it would have saved a lot of time and energy. Measuring them now for new clothes sizes only takes a few seconds, and there's so much less hassle. The measurements are accurate, which helps me now - the kids are getting into men's sizes, where things like inseam and neck measurements can make a bigger difference than simple S/M/L sizing. The tape goes up to 80 inches, ample for most body shapes and sizes. It can be used as a regular measuring device or for circumference measurements. The retraction spring is not too tight, so the tape does not cinch too tight. The pin lock is convenient so you don't have to hold the end of the tape while retracting the extra tape. (It will pop out if not sitting upright, but you get used to it quickly.) The measure is compact, so it fits easily in a drawer or my sewing basket. Great price!

This is an awesome device. It accurately gives you the ability to measure body parts, with using only 1 hand, such as your bicep and makes it ridiculously easy to measure other body parts such as calves, thighs, stomachs or necks. I love that it hooks into the other side of the device and I can then use the button on the face of the device to resize the tape. This is way more accurate, and much easier to use, than just a straight measuring tape.(Skip this paragraph if you don’t need to be told why this device starts at 2” instead of 0”) Please don’t listen to people who say this item is defective because the tape starts at 2” rather than 0. This is a body tape measure, not a straight measuring tape. This body measure is specifically designed to wrap around a specific part of your body and then hook into the other side of the body measuring device.The width of the body measuring device is 2” which is why the measuring tape starts at 2”. When wrapped around and hooked into the other side it is 2” short of the starting point of what you started to measure. And that is why this tape starts at 2”. It’s not defective. It takes into account the size of the device when it is fully wrapped around and hooked into the other side of the body part you are trying to measure.Then there is a button located on the face of the device that can be pressed to accurately resize the tape to fit whichever body part you are trying to measure such as a bicep or a thigh (or in my case, my protruding stomach!!). The reason the tape starts at 2” is because it takes into account the length of the base after you have wrapped it around a specific body part and then hooked it into the other side and resized the length of the tape.

The media could not be loaded. It works as stated, but the peg is too small for the slot and falls out very easily. Makes it a bit frustrating.

Took a bit of practice to do solo on measuring but once you get the hang of it and leaving more slack at first, simply hit the button and all slack is taken up for accurate measurement. Sure beats trying to wrap a long tape around arms, etc... with one hand. This device makes it super simple.
