Tungsten & Aluminum Cube Set - 2"

Look, you know what you’re here for. A heavy chunk and a light chunk, wow contrast! It is exactly what you want it to be, and a lot of fun to heft around.

Either you understand it, or you don't. I can't explain how cool it is to handle a tungsten cube, the density takes me by surprise every time. I've been handling it several times per day since I received it, and it is no less novel than the first time. Pairing it with an aluminum cube was a great idea, the comparison makes it even more impressive, though magnesium would be even better.Is it a great investment, worth the money? That I will leave up to you. Everyone has a different set of priorities, and yours are likely to differ from mine. I really wanted to buy some type of tungsten for at least a few months, but I held off the impulse. I was fully aware that given the expense, I might regret the purchase almost immediately. Having actually received it, though, no regrets. There are worse ways to spend your money ;)You can do a search on YouTube for videos about tungsten's properties (and there are some really good ones). But nothing is quite like actually holding it in hand.Recommended. (If I ever get tired of it, I'll either try to destroy it (easier said than done) or donate it to a school. But I don't see that happening.)

This might be the best thing I have ever purchased. Not sure why, but I absolutely love this Tungsten cube. The aluminum one provides great contrast but the pure magic is the tungsten. It’s like a fidget spinner except if you drop it on your foot it will break your foot in two. Highly recommend. I only wish I could afford the 3” or 4”. This will get passed down to my kids and grand-kids someday. It will outlast me, and literally all of us (melting point of 6000+ degrees F). Unbelievable power stored in this cube.

Glad I bought this set! I’m looking forward to the conversations these cubes spur, once I can let friends into my home again! (reference April, 2020 quarantine). I was very happy with the fact sheets and certification letter that accompanied the set. I’m so glad I opted for getting the aluminum to accompany the bewildering tungsten. They make a great artistic centerpiece even when not being handled. Very efficient packaging to hold all that density—no surprise when the postal carrier dropped off the box what was inside!

I took these two 2" cubes of aluminum and tungsten to the office for "show and tell." I shared the experience with approximately 20 people, both men and women, both professional and administrative staff. It's the only time in my life I recall seeing the same reaction and hearing the same word from such a diverse group. Ask them to heft the aluminum cube first and then the tungsten. The eyes widen, the jaw drops, and the word "amazing" escapes the lips.

Exactly as described, and a splendid demonstration of (essentially) the entire span of practical densities. Picking each up to assess heft is dramatic and it becomes unsurprising that the ratio of weight of the two (slightly more that a factor of seven) is that of the average US adult male (195.7 lbs) to the average two-year old (28 lbs). Now I just need to get six more aluminum cubes so I can use a balance to complete the demonstration.

Amazing cubes that aw in feel, weight and conversation. Coworkers have guessed the weight of the Tungsten cube @ 10lbs, 15lbs, and several guesses at 20lbs. The small size really throws off the holders perspective.
