Ancel JP700 Works with a Suzuki JB420
My BT OBDII dongle was reporting 'connection failed' on my Suzuki JB420. I learned that vehicle was never sold in the US market, so it doesn't offer an ODBII interface to the ECM. The JP700 does not report real-time stats like RPM's etc for my JB420 (connected to JODB), but it does report sensor errors and has a reset function. I have not tried the USB interface, however, as I gather from reading the manual, I think the only USB function is to update the firmware of the JP700. If you have a supported non-US market vehicle, this device is worth the money. This reader is supposed to work with ODBII vehicles (US market) as well, however in my opinion the BT or wifi dongles connected to phone/computer app provide more interesting data. The Ancel JP700 appears to be well-constructed and durable, made to withstand use over time.

Standard
Does the job, has multiple Japanese car maker's with which it is compatible with and otherwise very basic. Lots of money saved. Thumbs up from me.

Doesn't perform
Supposedly made specifically for Japanese vehicles. Testing toyota, obd2 wont connect. There is an option to select vehicles brand directly, however it gives no codes. I'm sitting here with a CEL/MIL, the engine shaking and cutting out....but it says that there are no codes. If there is a MIL, there are codes. Meanwhile, a friend has a cheap Bluetooth scanner from years ago, it cant check transmissions, but its picking up engine codes. This tool doesn't do what it says it should. I should also point out that when selecting a brand fir Japanese vehicles directly, there are only two functions which are Read codes and Erase codes. There is no Im readiness, transmission check, sensor monitoring, nothing.Update: stopped working after a few uses. I thought maybe the obd2 port was bad, but it has power and the dashboard lights still flicker, meaning the ecu recognizes a connected device. The screen I believe is the issue. Waste of money.

Check which vehicles each model supports
Originally I bought a lower model number that showed it worked with Toyota in my model year range, but it refused to connect. Having a 1st generation Tacoma with a small vacuum leak that throws a Check Engine light every so often, I wanted this to diagnose and clear the codes. Works like a champ! Easy to navigate menus. I even did a USB update without much effort, but I don't think it applied to my vehicle anyway. Product is well made and feels solid.

Reset gear box fault, service, EVERYTHING!
I had a "GEAR BOX FAULT" on my 2014 range Rover sport, because my battery got too low. (Stupid. I know) The dealership wanted to charge me $200 to reset the fault! So, this saves me money right out the gate, plus I've used it several more times scanning and resetting codes on other vehicles. WIN! WIN! 👍🏼🤘🏼🤙🏼

Worked Well
Was able to read codes for my 2006 Landcruiser Prado (JDM) when other scanners could not. Good purchase.

Not for JDM vehicles like my 99 Toyota Altezza.
What Does JDM Mean? The term JDM is an acronym for Japanese Domestic Market. It references the fact that these cars are meant for the Japanese public and, thus, have specific features custom-tailored for the population there. But, more often than not, there are some misconceptions. If the manufacturers made the auto in Japan but sold it on the international market in the US, Europe, or elsewhere, it’s not a JDM vehicle. It would always lack particular quirks and features that should comply with Japanese laws and regulations.I am currently in Japan and I own a 1999 Toyota Altezza SXE10 with a BEAMS engine that was only produced in japan for the Japanese market. With that being said when i tried to use this after hoursssss of trying to download the update onto my windows 10 laptop, it would only work to diagnose the fault code engine check light diagnostic on my vehicle. I would like to mention however that the downloading issues were due to chrome and explorer specific issues. They would not fully download because the web browsers kept denying to fully download the program indicating "virus scan failed" . Anyways my engine check came up as none because my engine check light was not on in the first place. What I had actually bought this for was to check live engine diagnostic data such as "I/M readiness, data stream, freeze frame and vehicle information" as it advertises. Sadly this function does not work as seen on my photo which i attached. This is why my rating is at only 2 stars. Does the engine scan work correctly for JDM vehicles? IDK since i dont have this issue (MY engine check light is not on) and cannot check. I believe this OBD scanner is actually meant for Japanese brand vehicles "sold in the US" which are not true JDM vehicles. I think this scanner should clarify this in the item description. All in all it feels sturdy and well built as well and easy to use once updated, and had it worked properly on my vehicle this would receive a full 5 star rating. By the way my work around for the download issue was to use Firefox to download the update file from the website along with another program that you will need in order to open the RAR type file that the update downloads as. Hope this helps.

Awesome JOBD scanner
Just what I was looking for. Got a BlueDriver scan tool but it wasn’t connecting to the Japanese cars. After much research I found this scanner at an excellent price point. It’s awesome and works on all the Japanese vehicles I tried; 2006 Toyota Crown, Toyota Noah, Toyota Mark X, 2002 Toyota Harrier, Toyota Rav 4, Lexus IS250, 2010 Toyota Alphard. The awesome part is that this scanner also has the ability to scan the regular OBDII vehicles. For the price you get a regular OBDII scanner that also does JDM (Japanese) vehicles.
