Easy to use, easy to clean
What a simple and inexpensive way to make cute bubble waffles. I've used mochi and regular mix in it. Love the texture of the crispy outside and chewy and soft inside the bubble shape allows for. This is also easy to clean and doesn't take up a ton of space. Great to have on weekend rotation.

issa all about temperature control in terms of cooking time, and batter viscosity
here's my variation of the other reviewer's recipeteaspoon 5 gramstablespoon 15 grams = 1 teaspoonall dry ingredients used teaspoon, tablespoon, cupflour 1 cupsugar 0.5 to 0.75 cuptapioca/corn starch 30 gramsevaporated milk 30 gramscustard power 15 grams , corn flourbaking powder 10 gramseggs 2-4water/milk 140 mlvegetable oil/butter 30 mlvanilla essence 15 mltoo lazy n cheap to get Bird's custard powder: main ingredient = corn flour2nd batch i used 4 eggs, 45 gram of tapioca, wanted a little more chewy. melted butter and vegetable oil. ultra-pasteurized milk (won't spoil for weeks) instead of water. batter not wet, flows very slowlyi don't fill the edges, let it cook for 20+ seconds, and close handle as tight as possible, flip over to batter to fill other side. too much batter will ooze out, so you will know to load less batter on next trycook less for more fluffiness, i personally like em crispy. tough to have both crispy edges and fluffy insideenjoy :)

Good enough
I've learned that with HK Waffles, the secret is basically the ingredients, not the maker itself. Most any maker will work. The trick here is to properly grease this one. I have been using Bakers Joy spray which works well but that does mean the first waffle is a throwaway simply because it'll have oil patches and not look attractive. Beyond that you can get good results with this one.If I had to complain about anything its that there is no locking clasp. A professional waffle maker will have the ability to lock when rotated so that it presses the waffle on all sides evenly. This is a big deal if you want the batter to fill in evenly and get that smooth texture on the egg divots all around. If your batter ends up too cakey, it will cause the lid to remain slightly open on the handle end. So while its cooking you have to stand there and hold it firmly closed. This could probably be solved with some 3D printed clasp or maybe even a piece of 12gauge wire for the 'DIY problem solver'

My attempt at Hong Kong style egg waffle
My kids love bubble waffle from Happy Lemon so this machine is perfect for making it at home. The trick is to NOT oil the nonstick surface to get the shine and crisp. I started with making Hong Kong style egg waffle recipe from scratch, but sometimes I just want a quick option so I tried Krusteaz Belgian Waffle Mix where you need to add egg, water and oil. The image in the review is made from Krusteaz mix. Pour the mix, close the lid and flip it right away, then wait for the indicator light to know it’s done cooking. Sometimes I leave it in there a minute longer if it looks too light. Shouldn’t stick unless it overflowed then you just have uncooked batter to clean.

This can't make real Hong Kong style 'Gai Daan Zai'
I tested the product immediately. I guess mos of the low-end egg waffle maker nowadays are kind of being designed the same way. It is just a waffler machine that incorporate the egg shape as the mold. There are few things that I don't like about this waffle maker.1. The egg shape mold is too shallow, you can't get the finished product in a good size.2. The space in between upper and lower base is too little and the egg flour mix are easily get overcooked and burned. And the finish product does not look nice.3. The product is not too easy to clean also due to size of the egg shape mold. It is not difficult but with bigger egg shape mole, it will be easier to clean with a wipe.4. Quality is decent, but the product that I had received has light scratch on the base.

Kevin sent me.
It is just the thing, so cute. Kids love the waffles and well as adults. Any pancake mix will do.

Gordon, I'm disappointed
I don't normally write these reviews, but felt I needed to this time. What a big letdown. The name 'Masterchef' used to mean 'the best of the best' to me, but not with this product. I thought that I could trust this product to be good because of the 'Masterchef' name. Nope.1) Very easy to overfill.2) If the batter overflows (which it will), the batter goes in between the case and the cooking element, and is only cleanable by taking the unit entirely apart with a screwdriver.3) When you flip the unit, there isn't a clip to keep the 2 halves together.4) Instructions are terrible. Poorly written.I could go on, but why bother. I'm sure the manufacturer could care less. Look around on Amazon. There are better units out there.
